The New Central Harnett Hospital

I was just passing by, and decided to stop in and take a few pictures of the new Central Harnett Hospital which has just opened recently. The Harnett County Governmental Complex is just a short distance away. I am guessing that Harnett County decided to put their governmental offices & agencies in a central location of the County. It is odd that they are not located in a central town or city in the County, but maybe a city will grow up around the complex now.

Nice looking facility, but reminds me of something that might have been built in the early 1960s in Russia, or Scandanavia. But then, the arched dome of the 1950s Quonset Hut buildings made a resurgence in the early years of this Century. Fifty years from now kids will be looking at these structures and noting when they must have been built.

I think this is funny every time I come across it…

Why would anyone display this image on a departmental web site? I seem to recall an announcement with this image that said something to the effect that they were “preparing to soar.” If you didn’t have a clue as to what the image actually represented, then you might see the flames shooting out the back and think the plane was about to soar into the Stratosphere… But, it is a picture of the French Concorde which in less than two minutes, would crash to the ground killing all on board and several in the hotel which it hit. I’ve mentioned this ironic image to several persons who had editing control of the site, but no one has ever taken the image down. Is this an odd foreboding that the department is blissfully working away, unaware that their catastrophic demise is just moments away?

Garbanzo Beans for Hummus

Here were three brands of garbanzo beans. I think I’ve tried them all and they all are cooked long enough to make a good hummus. Hanover also has a good canned garbanzo bean. One of the brands from Walmart (I don’t recall which.) isn’t cooked long enough and makes a mealy hummus. But, if you cook it a little longer, it prepares well. Not worth the time though.

Dillion, SC Public Library

I am passing through Dillon, SC and decided to stop to visit the Main Library. I am in a corner of the Library called the Dunbar Geneaology Library. I noticed a rumbled paper notice taped to one of the tables that says,

"You Are Not Allowed to Use Webcams in the library,Thank Your,
Library Staff

I thought this odd, and thought it might be due to bandwidth issues. The library staff on duty thought the reason might be because they were loud (I guess, people talking on them would be disruptive, even if you had headphones. I asked if webcams included digital cameras, and the staff person thought they did.

It is nice and quiet here.

They have a Northwest Microfilm 2020 reader with a manual crank. Nice upholstered, padded chairs with a green and burgundy colored floral motif.
